Guardianship

When a family member has lost the ability to make decisions regarding their property or healthcare, a guardianship of the person or estate may be necessary. Since guardianship is an option of last resort, Mr. Bishop can provide assistance in determining if a less restrictive alternative is available. If a guardianship becomes necessary, Mr. Bishop can assist you in protecting your loved one by:

  • Preparing the application for appointment of a guardian
  • Securing a bond required by the court
  • Preparing all necessary accountings required by the court
  • Preparing the documents necessary to authorize the Guardian to sell estate assets, if needed, to provide for the Ward’s expenses of care
